FAU has been taking a proactive and sustainable approach to promoting equality of men and women for over two decades now. In order to ensure genuine gender equality, FAU’s focus on supporting equal opportunities for women has gradually shifted towards including a gender mainstreaming approach. This means that the various starting points, circumstances and interests of men and women alike should be considered from the outset in all decisions, measures and projects implemented by FAU. Ensuring gender equality for both men and women means that measures ought also to be taken to increase the proportion of male students in the areas where they are traditionally under-represented.
