Target agreements with the Faculty of Engineering
The fourth target agreement round 2023–2027 has been in force since January 1, 2023.
The measures listed in the target agreements for increasing the proportion of women in academia are aimed to help FAU reach the following goals:
- Increase the proportion of female students at the Faculty of Engineering from 25.6% (as of December 2020) to 30% by the end of 2027
- Increase the proportion of doctoral degrees completed by female doctoral candidates at the Faculty of Engineering from 20.1% (as of December 2020) to 25% by the end of 2027
- Increase the proportion of female staff with doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Engineering from 18.6% (as of June 2021) to 30% by the end of 2027 (Target from 2018-2022 target agreement: 27%; as of April 1, 2019: 24.3%)
- Increase the percentage of women among permanent research staff at the Faculty of Engineering from 12.9% (December 2020) to 22% by the end of 2027 (target from 2018-2022 target agreement)
- Increase the proportion of female professors at the Faculty of Engineering from 10% (as of December 2020) to 15% by the end of 2027

- Career support for female early career researchers by means of the new ARIADNEtechnat mentoring program for female Master’s degree students, female doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers
- Guest lectures by outstanding female researchers
- Annual doctoral thesis award
- Conference funding for active participation in scientific conferences
- Travel grants and visiting scholarships
- “Taster” internships for girls at school (for example Girls’ Day, Girls and Technology internship)
- Tailored coaching sessions
- Start-up funding for newly-appointed female W1 and W2 professors at the Faculty of Engineering
- Proactive recruitment of female professors
