Publication/Research prize at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology
This award honors excellent research achievements by women of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology. In 2024, the Women’s Representatives of the Faculty will, again, give out two awards – the “Research Award” and the “Publication Award”.
- The Research Award highlights outstanding research achievements by women.
- The Publication Award additionally recognized the publication of an outstanding research achievement, especially in the format of a book/monograph. .
The prizes are each endowed with 2,000 € and are awarded every 2 years. The next call for applications will start in spring 2025. Junior female scholars may submit their application to the Advisor to the Women’s Representative of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology.
Application procedure
Applications must be submitted electronically and by mail to the Women’s Representatives. Decisions will be made by a committee of faculty members.
Awards offered
- The Research Award and the Publication Award both emphasize excellent research. Submissions for both Awards are possible, but they require two separate applications.
- The prize money for each award is 2,000 €.
Selection Process
The recipients of the Awards will be selected by a committee.
Application requirements for both Awards
- The publication(s) must have been published in the time period, which is mentioned in the call for applications.
- The publication or the research that led to the publication must have been carried out at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
- Only female employees of the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology are eligible to apply
Application documents Research Award
- High-ranking publications in the type of a book and/or scholarly articles: Submissions are limited to a maximum of five publications and must be in German and English. A cumulative dissertation or habilitation can be counted as one publication (please indicate this in your application).
- Letter of motivation: Please explain in max. 3 pages the underlying research of the publication(s) and justify their outstanding character.
- Curriculum vitae
- List of publications: Please specify monographs and peer reviewed publications and distinguish them from other publications.
- Letter of recommendation: Please include a letter of recommendation from an external (not employed at FAU) academic peer reviewer with the application. The length and content of the letter are at the discretion of the reviewer. The reviewer may not be a co-author of the submitted publications. Participants in the review process of a submitted dissertation or Habilitation are also not eligible as external reviewers.

- A high-ranking publication in the form of a book: Submissions are limited to German and English.
- Letter of explanation: Please explain in max. 2 pages the underlying research of the publication(s) and justify its outstanding character.

- Letter of recommendation: Please include a letter of recommendation from an external (not employed at FAU) academic peer reviewer with the application. The length and content of the letter are at the discretion of the reviewer. The reviewer may not be a co-author of the submitted publications. Participants in the review process of a submitted qualification paper are also not eligible as external reviewers.
